PharmD/MS in Health Informatics
Program Description
The combined Master of Science in Health Informatics and Doctor of Pharmacy is a program developed in collaboration between Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy and College of Professional Advancement. Merging subject knowledge from various areas of study, the combined degree program gives candidates an edge through a unique opportunity to earn both a Master of Science and a Doctorate degree at the same time. This program is designed for students seeking to provide high-quality, patient-centered care at the intersection of pharmaceutical expertise and healthcare information technology. The combination of computing and communication technologies with clinical acumen prepares students for work delivering expert, efficient and sustainable healthcare services.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be prepared to:
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of biomedical, pharmaceutical, social-behavioral, administrative and clinical services
- Provide patient-centered and population-based care in multidisciplinary settings to culturally diverse populations
- Understand the theory and incorporate the application of computing and communication technologies
- Illustrate and execute solutions to an organization’s overall healthcare information strategy
Students with this combined degree may pursue a variety of careers in different roles including clinical informatics pharmacist and pharmacy informatics analyst.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in the combined degree program will complete the requirements for both the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Applicants must meet the admission requirements for both the College of Pharmacy’s PharmD and the College of Professional Advancement’s MS in Health Informatics.
