Raquibul Hasan, PhD
Associate Professor and Principal Investigator

Dr. Raquibul Hasan is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Mercer University College of Pharmacy, with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Mercer University School of Medicine. He received his BPharm and MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences degrees from Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh, followed by a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge, UK. He then completed postdoctoral training in vascular biology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, supported by an American Heart Association fellowship, before joining Mercer in 2018. Dr. Hasan directs the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics, which focuses on ion channels, G-protein–coupled receptors (GPCRs), and endothelin signaling pathways to discover novel therapeutics and repurpose existing drugs for hypertension, diabetes, pulmonary hypertension, cognitive decline, and stroke. His group employs an integrative approach spanning computational drug discovery, molecular and cellular pharmacology, and animal models to investigate cardiovascular, immune, and gut–brain interactions. His research is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Heart Association (AHA), with a long-term goal of developing first-in-class therapeutics that target both endothelin-1 receptor overstimulation and overproduction to address drug-resistant hypertension and metabolic cardiovascular diseases.
