What got you into pharmacy?
My journey into pharmacy was inspired by my passion for skincare. At the age of 16, I launched my own skincare line, which began as a personal hobby. In the midst of perfecting my craft, I became fascinated by how ingredients work together to help people feel more confident in their skin. This sparked an interest in wanting to learn more about the pharmacology of certain active ingredients and how they interact with the body. That curiosity led me to pursue a career in pharmacy, where I could deepen my knowledge on how drug formulations work at an intricate level. Pharmacy gives me the ability to combine my interests of science, business, and care for others.
How does Mercer Mean More to you?
To me Mercer represents more than just a place of learning. It is a community that has supported my growth both personally and professionally. The faculty and staff genuinely care about the success of their students, and the supportive yet challenging environment continues to shape me into a competent and confident student pharmacist. Mercer’s commitment to service and excellence aligns closely with my personal values and I’m proud to call this place home. What do you hope to do after school? After graduation, I plan to pursue residency to further develop my clinical skills and potentially specialize in internal medicine; however, I remain open to exploring other specialties as I gain more experience. Another goal of mine is to translate my commitment to the community through service and mentorship with the goal of making a meaningful impact on the next generation of pharmacists.
What is something people may not know about you?
Something people may not know about me is that I am deeply passionate about my faith in Jesus Christ. My belief in Him has a central role in shaping my values, guiding my decisions, and inspiring me to approach both my personal life and professional career with compassion, integrity, and purpose.
What advice would you give someone going into pharmacy school?
My advice would be to stay curious, stay organized, and never hesitate to ask for help. Pharmacy school is challenging, but it’s also full of opportunities to grow. Building relationships with your peers and professors can provide both academic and personal support throughout your journey. Most importantly, remember why you started in the first place and what your end-goal is because your passion is the very thing that could help get you through the tough moments.
