Accessing Tutoring

Tutoring is available to student pharmacists from upper-class students who are members of the Rho Chi society and represent the top 20 percent of their class GPA.

All individual tutoring sessions are 1 – 2 hours per session, and the cost is $20/hour. Cash or a check made out to Rho Chi must be paid to the tutor at the session.

If the student has failed the most recent examination in a course, the student qualifies for 2 free hours of tutoring, either one 2-hour session or two 1-hour sessions. Desired tutoring beyond that will be $20/hour. Once a subsequent exam takes place in the same course, the student no longer qualifies for free tutoring, though if the student fails the subsequent exam, he/she qualifies again for 2 free hours of tutoring.

Requests for a tutor should be made through the Rho Chi Canvas webpage at least 3 days in advance of desired meeting day. Don’t wait until exam time! A tutor will usually respond within 24 hours, and likewise, a student requesting help should promptly respond back to the tutor. If the student and tutor cannot find a mutually agreeable time to meet, the student can request another tutor through the Rho Chi Canvas webpage.

Students should be on-time for the session and come prepared with specific questions or topics for the tutor. If a student is unable to attend a scheduled session, he/she must notify the tutor at least 3 hours in advance.
